Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before installing or using the "LiveSticky" Reddit Bot ("the App" or "the Bot"), a Reddit application developed on the Reddit Developer Platform (Devvit).

By installing the App on a subreddit you moderate or interacting with the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Bot.

1. Description of Service

The "LiveSticky" Reddit Bot is a serverless application designed to automate stream announcements on Reddit:

  • It periodically polls public Twitch API endpoints to check the stream status of a specified channel.
  • When the stream goes live, it automatically creates a new post on the subreddit and pins (stickies) it to the top of the subreddit feed.
  • When the stream goes offline, it automatically unpins and removes the post to keep the subreddit clean.

This service is provided to subreddit moderators to improve community engagement and coordinate announcements.

2. Eligibility and License

  • Moderator Permissions: To install and configure the App on a subreddit, you must be a moderator of that subreddit with the necessary permissions to manage apps and settings.
  • License Grant: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and run the Bot on your managed subreddit solely in accordance with these Terms and Reddit's Developer Terms.

3. Moderator Responsibilities

By installing the Bot, you agree to:

  • Provide Valid Credentials: Subreddit moderators must supply valid Twitch Client ID and Client Secret credentials (obtained via the Twitch Developer Console) in the App's secure settings.
  • Abide by Platform Rules: Ensure that the Bot is used in compliance with the Reddit User Agreement, Reddit Developer Terms, Reddit Content Policy, and Twitch Developer Agreement.
  • Responsible Use: Do not use the App to spam, harass, or violate the privacy of any individual or community.

4. Intellectual Property and Open Source

  • Ownership: The Bot's design, code, and interface remain the intellectual property of the developer (u/iammesutkaya).
  • Third-Party Services: The Bot connects to third-party endpoints owned and operated by Twitch. You acknowledge that Twitch's APIs are governed by Twitch's own terms of service and policies, and we are not responsible for any changes or restrictions Twitch imposes on its platform.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • THE APP WILL RUN COMPLETELY UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
  • STREAM LIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL ALWAYS OCCUR INSTANTLY OR DETECT LIVESTREAM EVENTS WITH 100% ACCURACY.
  • REDDIT OR TWITCH APIS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUE, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Bot.
  • Any changes, outages, or modifications to Reddit's Developer Platform or Twitch's APIs.
  • Any unauthorized access to, use of, or alteration of your settings or data by third parties.

7. Termination

  • Uninstalling the Bot: You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the Bot from your subreddit using Reddit's Mod Tools.
  • Discontinuation: We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Bot, or revoke installation permissions, at any time without notice.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
